...That unforgettable taste!

Several years ago I ate a special sweet on my favourite day: Christmas.

I still remember the unforgettable taste of that sweet called Bakllava!

The Bakllava was in the center of the table. Its golden color made me drool. That sweet always makes me think of my homecountry: Kosovo!
The Bakllava was hot, but I blow it over and put it in my mouth. It was delicious. I could feel my mother’s love at every single bite I had. It was not the first time I ate Bakllava but that one had something that made it unique and unforgettable.

INGREDIENTS

400g phyllo dough
300g walnuts
200g butter
200g sugar
300ml water
4 eggs

PREPARATION

Melt the butter in a pan and allow it to cool. Butter the pan then put a first layer of phyllo dough mixed with sugar, start brushing with melted butter and egg and put it over a second and a third layer always buttering them. After the third layer put the walnuts and restart the process. Every three sheets of phyllo dough insert a layer of walnuts until the phyllo dough begins.

Bake at 180° for 30 minutes. Meanwhile prepare the syrup with sugar and water (at medium heat and mix constantly). Once cooked, pour the syrup on the Bakllava, let it cool down and cut into small rhomboids... and enjoy!

The value of things

The first time that I heard this song I didn’t give much weight to its meaning but I liked its rhythm.
Later I understood the meaning as well as the value of things and people. Similar experiences have happened to me, the most recent was a trivial quarrel with a friend but fortunately we put aside the pride and we saved our friendship.

I chose this song because it reflects on a very common and important theme: we realize the value of things only after we have lost them. This song makes us understand how the things that at first seem useless, once lost become necessary.
Simple things, simple habits, simple gestures become essential.
Unfortunately, the guy inthe song doesn’t put aside the pride and accept that the girl he loves isn’t longer at his side, suffering for love .

The message is to give the right importance to everything and everyone, because everything and everyone areessential.

Put aside the pride when you have to fight for something or someone important!

Well you only need the light when its burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go

Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you’ll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast

You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you’ll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies

But you only need the light when its burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
Cos love comes slow and it goes so fast

Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
Cos you loved her too much and you dived too deep

Well you only need the light when its burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go
And you let her go
Well you let her go

Cos you only need the light when its burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go

Cos you only need the light when its burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go

Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go.

The fire of passion and The Ink Spots

the Hammer

This song is a beautiful jazz track performed by The ink spots (they are an unknown group, who sang during the 1940s) in 1944 in which the band imagines a love story between a man and a woman. The man is a bourgeois who has lost all his ambition of wordly acclaim beacause he's fallen in love.I think this is one of the most romantic song written during the second World War.

Unfortunately there's no video for this song, maybe beaucause it was written in hard times.

Lyrics:
I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart
In my heart I have that one desire
And that one is you
No other will do
I’ve lost all ambition for worldly acclaim
I just want to be the one you love
And with your admission that you feel the same
I’ll have reached the goal I’m dreaming of

Believe me
I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart

[Spoken Word] I don't wanna set the world on fire, honey
I love you too much
I just wanna start a great big flame
Down in your heart
You see, way down inside of me
Darlin' I have only one desire
And that one desire is you
And I know nobody else ain't gonna do

Believe me
I don’t want to set the world on fire
I just want to start
A flame in your heart

The song's lyrics is not very long but in a few verses The ink spots had made an eloquent track.
In the first verses they compare the war destruction (the world is on fire because of the Second World War) with the passion and tje flame that burns the main character heart beacause he's in love with a woman.
This man is ready to give up his fame and all his ambitions to run after his beloved lady and he
doesn't want anything else but passion.
Maybe he thinks that only this girl can give him what he wants for his life. This track is the perfect mix of Jazz and Doo Wop, two of the most famous kinds of music in the 19th
century.

It’s time to love

We have chosen this song because it is a love song and it passes down to us beautiful feelings, above all if you’re in love!
It’s fantastic to find a person who loves you as you love him/her.
The Goo Goo Dolls is an American band composed of three musicians, the typical punk-rock group: John Rzeznik (vocal and guitar), Robby Takac (bass and vocal) and Mike Malinin (drums).
Their name comes from True Detective magazine which advertised a doll called Goo Goo.

In 1998 Goo Goo Dolls were invited to write a song for the soundtrack of the Hollywood remake of "Wings of Desire" by Win Wenders: "City of Angels" with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan.
The song written was "Iris" and it had suffered a resounding success, leading the Goo Goo Dolls on top of the charts around the world.
The lyrics relates directly to the plot of the movie: an angel who falls in love with a girl, but she can’t see him since he's an angel. He feels so much love for the woman that he gives up his angelic being to stay with her and became real.
The whole movie is a metaphor of the magic that surrounds a person when he/she falls in love: you disappear in front of the rest of the world and nothing is more important than having that person with you.
It's impossible to explain clearly what you feel, but what really counts is being understood by the persone you love!

Here is the lyrics:

And I’d give up forever to touch you
‘Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
‘Cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight

And I don’t want the world to see me
‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive

And I don’t want the world to see me
‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don’t want the world to see me
‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don’t want the world to see me
‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
