Tiramisù

Tiramisù is the one of the most famous Italian cake, and the most common dessert that Italian people eat at the restaurant after the meal. class- mate invited us in Sicily to spend the holiday.

This summer our classmate invited us to spend our holiday in Sicily.
During this holiday she celebrated her birthday, so for this occasion we cooked a traditional cake for her: Tiramisù. Celebrating together that special day for our friend was really beautiful: we had a lot of fun and we talked about different traditional cakes in our countries.
When we have finished to eat the cake she told us that the peculiarity of this cake is that she used to prepare this cake with her mother, but now her mother has gone. That’s why this cake means a lot to her: when we were celebrating her birthday she was very happy and she was thinking that her mother was there to celebrate her birthday too.
She said that it was the best gift that she has ever received and she will always remember this day because we prepared Tiramisù with love and affection for her 18th birthday.

ALBANIAN BAKLLAVA

Albanian Team

Bakllava is the Middle Eastern dessert par excellence, but it’s also part of Balkan traditions.
We chose this sweet because it is good, it is often cooked for religious parties. One day, a Ramadam’s day, my friends Abdyl, Adrian and I went to have lunch at an Albanian’s post which makes pizzas, kebabs and other traditional things from Albania. After eating, we decided to take a slice of bakllava, and we really liked it, for this reason we decided to choose this sweet, also because it is a traditional dessert in Albania.
The Baklava is a layered sweet of thin phyllo dough, just like leaves or sheets of paper, grated and leaned in a pan: chopped nuts
together with pistachios, are scattered over the various layers, which are then rolled and baked in the oven before being soaked with a solution of sugar and lemon juice or honey and spices with water.

Ingredients
- 500 gr phyllo dough
- 200 gr chopped nuts
- 150 gr crushed pistachios
- cinnamon powder
- 180 gr melted butter
Ingredients for the syrup
- 50 gr honey
- 450 gr sugar
- 300 ml water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Preparation
1-Prepare the syrup making it melt on the fire with water, honey and lemon juice. After a few minutes of cooking you will see that it becomes dense: take it out of the fire and cool it in the fridge.

2-Divide the dough into at least 12 parts and roll with the help of a rolling pin so that you get 12 thin sheets that you will lay in a rectangular.

3-Paint the first pie with melted butter and lay on top of another 5 sheets that will squeeze each with butter. On these first 6 layers sprinkle the crushed nuts and pistachios not too big; finish with powdered cinnamon powder. Cover everything with the other 6 sheets that will be scrubbed each, including the surface of the last, with the remaining butter.

4-Take a knife and cut the dough until it touches the bottom of the pan, diagonally in both directions to get rhombuses.

5-Bake at 180º for about 40 minutes until the dough is cooked well and is golden.

6-Take the baklava from the oven and pour over it the hot syrup.

Lose yourself

China Clan

“Lose yourself” is a song that speaks of Marshall Bruce Mathers III’s life, better known as Slim Shady or with his most popular name: Eminem. “Lose yourself” was published on 28 October 2002; for that song Eminem was awarded the Oscar for Best Song in 2003 and the Golden Disk in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany and Greece, while the Platinum Disk in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Norway, USA, UK, Sweden and Switzerland. This song speaks of Eminem’s life in his neighborhood and 8Mile, a disastrous street in Detroit that divides the white quarter from the black one. We have chosen this song because it is one of his most famous songs, that made Eminem known all over the world. Eminem is one of our favorite singers because he is the best rapper in the world: in spite of his difficult childhood, thanks to his music he has become someone, so we admire him for his strength and for his willfulness. In addition to this reason we have chosen “Lose yourself” because we like its meaning. The message this song gives us is: you have to take advantage of the chance of life, give the maximum for what you want to get it, if you fail you will hardly have these possibilities, as the song says
“you better never let it go,
you only get one shot,
do not miss your chance to blow,
this opportunity comes once in a lifetime”.

MY IMMORTAL

Never Give Up

The Evanescence are a rock band from the United States, formed in Little Rock in 1995. The band takes its name from the word "evanescence", the state or act of vanishing.
Their music is characterized by a fusion of alternative metal elements, gothic metal (especially at the beginning).
The band was founded by vocalist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody in 1995. According to various sources not always congruent, the two met in a young camp in Arkansas, where Moody listened to Lee playing the piano and singing I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Will not Do That) by Meat Loaf; later he would say: "I thought I was in paradise. Almost I was dry. In that tiny young camp there was one of the most powerful and beautiful voices I'd ever heard.

LYRICS
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here

And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that
time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away
all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away
all of your fears
I held your hand through
all of these years
But you still have
All of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
Now I'm bound by the life
you left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that
time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away
all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away
all of your fears
I held your hand through
all of these years
But you still have
All of me

I've tried so hard to tell myself
that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along

When you cried I'd wipe away
all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away
all of your fears
I held your hand through
all of these years
But you still have
All of me, me, me

All together, we’ve chosen this song, in memory of our dear friend Angelo who, after a fatal accident, lost his life.

Angelo was more of a classmate or a friend. Angelo was a part of us and from one day to another everyone lost him.
As the song says, it is a pain that none of us can forget because it is such a strong pain that even time can’t erase, it’s “a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone”.

Linkin Park

MMCEditorial

We’ve always loved rock music, we can listen to it for hours and hours. But Linkin Park's music left a mark on our hearts. We discovered the band hearing the song “What I’ve Done” from the Minutes to Midnight album and we liked it so much that we started to follow the band and the other songs later published.
This Band can satisfy all kinds of ears, because it's rock influenced by hip hop, alternative rock and electronics. The band was founded in 1996 in Los Angeles by three high school friends, Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson. They called their band Xero and firstly recorded in Shinoda's bedroom. After recruiting Chester Bennington, they renamed the band Hybrid Theory.
Their first concert was in Los Angeles, after which they got a contract with the Warner Bros Records, but they had to change their name one last time in Linkin Park, and changed their lineup. Their first success was the album Hybrid Theory, that sold over 30 million copies influenced by other groups like Defnotes, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche mode, and other ones.
In 2003 the band began a small tour, the “Lp Underground Tour” reserved only for the fan club members; it started in Milano (23 February) and finished in Los Angeles (25 March). Their lineup in 2017 was: Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon and Joe Hanh. Linkin Park's logo was initially a square with the letters L and P inside it (the letter P was reversed) but in 2007 the logo was modified to a circle with two triangles in it, indicating in a particular way the initials of the band. The last logo published was an exagon with the triangles inside, indicating the band formed by 6 members. After the death of Bennington, Shinoda posted the same logo, but with the exagon missing a side.
We wanted to leave here a tribute to Chester Bennington, who died in 2017: “You satisfied our ears with your music, now let us remember you continuosly hearing your songs".

THE PASUL

 The Strangers

The pasul has Turkish origins, and its ingredients are beans, water, meat, vegetables and various spices. It's a typical Turkish-Kosovan dish that was born more than three centuries ago, and it’s still adored by all Turks and Kosovans.
This dish was used during war time because it is easy to prepare. We chose the pasul because it’s very tasty and everybody adores it. After preparing, the pasul takes a day to rest, so that the next day the dish is ready to be eaten.
The pasul takes from four to six hours only for cooking and boiling. The only flaw of this dish is that it causes farts. The pasul is usually matched with salad and homemade cheese, and it can be served without meat, but it’s mostly consumed with homemade dried beef.
When I think about the pasul, it occurs to me when I was a kid and it was time to have dinner with all my cousins: we ate together laughing and joking after a day full of games. It also reminds me some winter days spent out with my grandfather to help him and in the evening we ate the hot pasul, that warmed us all over the body, exposed to the cold of those days.

INGREDIENTS
Paprika
Onions
Black pepper
Spices
Pepper
Water
Beans
Dried meat

PREPARATION
It takes from four to six hours of cooking and boiling; and it’s usually matched with salad and homemade cheese. To prepare the pasul, you have to fill a pot of water and put it to boil, when the water bubbles, add the beans and let the beans cook together with the meat; then take a frying pan and fry the onions cut into tiny pieces and add black pepper, cut peppers, salt. After 2/3 hours of boiling, when the beans and the meat are ready, put the spices and cuttings in the pot and let it boil slowly for about 3 hours.

At last the pasul is served hot with homemade cheese or homemade cucumber peppers under homemade vinegar.
